These individuals made their mark on the world through great feats of athleticism and the dogged determination that made those triumphs possible. Many of the men and women listed here went on to give back to Dayton, or put their talents to work on the national stage.

Albert Bart – Fordham University football standout, a member of Fordham’s legendary Seven Blocks of Granite

Harry Baujan – UD football coach. Played for the Cleveland Tigers in 1921

Eddie Brinck – Class A Racing Champion and American Motorcycle Hall of Fame inductee

Matt Dahlinghaus – UD football player who died of injuries sustained during game

Glenn Dillhoff – NFL player with Green Bay Packers, Director of Montgomery Co. Joint Vocational School

Gerard A. Faust –  “Fuzzy” Chaminade High school football coach, father of Akron University coach, Gerry Faust

Ward Freeze – A semi-pro wrestler known as “Lord Ward,” and prolific blood donor

Tom Frericks – UD Basketball player, high school coach, UD Hall of Famer and former UD Athletic Director

Tony Furst – UD Hall of Fame football player

Edward Hamant – Cpt. of UD’s first golf team, won Ohio Intercollegiate Individual Championship

Anthony Kramer – NFL Referee and son of UD Athletic Director

Angie Kreitzer – Professional Bowler, WBA Queens Champion 1997

Eddie Kwest – UD Athletic Training for over 30 years

Al Mahrt – One of the greatest athletes in Dayton’s History

Louis Mahrt – Multi-sport athlete, UD newspaper editor, UD Hall of Fame inductee

Don Meineke – NBA basketball player, first ever “Rookie of the Year”

Kevin Must – PGA golfer and pro at Madden Golf Course & Community Golf Coarse

Jon P Poelking – Founder of Bowl for Hospice, business owner

Mac Richards – Hall of Fame power lifter

John Schneider – Played football for Chaminade High School under Gerald “Fuzzy” Faust

Robert Shortal – inducted into the University of Dayton Hall of Fame in 1984

Louis Tschudi – Multi-sport UD athlete, former football and basketball coach

Gene Westendorf – UD Athlete of the Year in 1941, lettered in eight sports

Jerry Westendorf – UD Athletic Hall of Fame inductee, Captain in US Infantry during WWII

Peter Zierolf –  UD football player, All-Ohio tackle and MVP of 1935 season

Mike Zimmerman – PGA golfer, four time match play champ
