Advent Evening Vespers

Join us for Vespers on Tuesday, December 19, at 6:00-6:30 p.m. at the chapel at Calvary Cemetery. A moment of peace before the big celebration. Experience the Eighth Century tradition of singing the “O Antiphons” in the final days leading up to Christmas with the chanted antiphon for December 19, “O Radix Iesse.” All are welcome. No charge.
What is Vespers? Vespers is part of the centuries-old tradition of the Liturgy of the Hours, which is the daily prayer of the Church. It uses the psalms and other New Testament texts. Morning Prayer (Lauds) and Evening Prayer (Vespers) are the two most important hours.
